La Cascada Developer Mitch Meyer. "We wanted someone who understood

Lisa delivers on all counts." Lisa has been an involved San Antonio resident of more than 17 years.
In her capacity as a realtor, Lisa brings a high degree of expertise
together with a great attention to detail on her clients behalf. She

South Flores Arts District upbeat, lively Dan R. Goddard A whirlwind danced through the parking lot, sending a blast of energy through the crowd listening to the band Buttercup rock out last fall during the SMART Fair. The event was bustling with exhibits, children's workshops and live performances in the growing arts district at South Flores Street and Lone Star Boulevard. For Andy Benavides, the whirlwind moment was pure magic. "I thought it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen," Benavides said. "It just seemed like a perfect symbol of what we're trying to do with the SMART Fair, to get people fired up about art. I've always felt like I had this creative guardian angel to guide me. I think we've got a great thing going here, and it can benefit a lot of people." He sold a lot of blue T-shirts that explained the fledgling art festival's somewhat wonky acronym: "Supporting Multiple Arts Resources Together." The slogan sums up Benavides' philosophy for uniting the South Flores Arts District, which has been dubbed "SoFlo." Generally, the area is best known for Second Saturday. The monthly crowds are still measured in the hundreds, rather than the thousands that swarm First Friday in Southtown, but South Flores is gathering steam, attracting more and more artists fleeing the high price of real estate in the not-so-far-away King William area. "My goal is to have art events that people can go to every weekend of the year," Benavides said. Story continues here>

Grocery Store/Deli to Call Downtown Home Look
out, downtown dwellers: Here comes Hippo's. The developer of La Cascada condominium towers is set to start construction next week on a 3,600-square-foot grocery store near Dwyer Avenue and Stumberg Street. San Antonio-based Loopy Ltd. plans to open the upstart grocery before Fiesta 2007, which starts April 20. The urban grocery store and deli will take up the ground floor of La Cascada's second tower — a 10-story sister to the 12-story luxury condominium tower that opened two years ago. Fairfield
Resorts Inc. will operate the second tower as time-share properties. "Whole
Foods in Austin kicked me out for taking pictures of the shelves," Meyer
said.
City-Buildings.com, the online guide for fine residential buyers, recently profiled residents Greg and Teresa Johnson, and their "migration" from San Antonio's suburbs to high-rise living on the Riverwalk. Feature writer Elaine Rogers noted that while the suburban flight story isn't new, it is just now becoming more commonplace in San Antonio as traffic, commutes and the "sameness" of subruban sprawl drives people back into the convenience and relative calm of city living. On the spot, Greg detailed a brief list of daily benefits brought on by their migration: “Being this close to so many restaurants, working out in a gym that’s in your building, saying goodbye to yard work, getting rid of the long commute…it’s all good." According to City-Buildings, the full story is scheduled to appear as part of their site design revamp in Spring 2008. HGTV Visits La Cascada Television home style gurus HGTV paid a visit recently to La Cascada as they profiled San Antonio and where to find both style and value. The series "What You Get For The Money," arranged for a complete tour of the building and selected two homes to profile for the show. Another
Successful Evening at LaCascada LaCascada,
along with the combined efforts of Lisa
Schmidt of Phyllis
Browning and Company, and Barbara
Blackburn of Bradfield
Properties, hosted another successful event. Held the evening of
October 12th, guests were treated to a variety of different Martinis
mixed by the talented bartenders of local hotspot Swig. There were
four bars set up throughout the building with each bar serving a different
variety of the elegant cocktail, along with assorted finger foods.
Guests were able to view the beautiful riverfront patio, tour three
furnished models, and relax on the rooftop to the New

residential interior design is about stuff. It's about Aunt Tilley's
sideboard and that comfortable recliner. It's about the old roll-top
desk you'd never part with and that tacky bookcase, which you'd gladly
divorce. But
downtown residential interior design is about space and the lack of
it. "People love the concept of small-scale furnishings in urban living," says Eleanor Scott, a designer for John Williams Interiors in San Antonio. "We're seeing many people purchasing condos as second homes or vacation homes, and they want simpler, cleaner lines." Scott, who worked on the interiors of the three models at La Cascada condominiums, says scale is important when selecting furnishings for more> San
Antonio Express-News (TX) Just 14 units are left at La Cascada, the only luxury condominium high-rise on the River Walk. The entire ground floor has sold out, including two model units, sales associate Scott Nisson said. Many units at the 2-year-old building have been bought for second homes, he said. Three buyers have signed contracts there in the past three weeks. Condos
in the 12-story building on Dwyer Avenue start at $500,000. "It's
good to get the agents down here and let them know what's going
on downtown, because they work all over the place. We're trying
to add to their mindset that downtown is an option," he said. Remax
on the Roof' Bash a Success A summer breezy evening was just the ticket for a select group of Remax agents this past Thursday. After touring the building Remax agents were welcomed to the pool area by Joan of Gourmet Catering with a beautiful spread of appetizers and finger foods. There was a bar area by the pool serving beer and wine and a live jazz trio kept everyone entertained. The agents had a wonderful time and the weather could not have been better - with the breeze lending the event the feeling of a vacation getaway on the coast. Some didn’t want to leave at the end of the evening. The general consensus? We’ll have to do this again.
Phyllis Browning Company held their weekly meeting in our common area facilities after being served a delicious breakfast by Gourmet Catering in the first floor model. They then toured five additional units throughout the building along with the beautiful rooftop pool area. At the end of the event names were drawn for three fabulous door prizes. We’ve heard LaCascada was the talk of the offices for the rest of the week and we even had a buyer come in due to the buzz created by the breakfast.
La
Cascada Hosts Bradfield Properties at Exclusive Luncheon. Over 90 guests joined Sales Director Scott Nisson for lunch and a detailed tour June 15. Many top agents from Bradfield Properties as well as key members of the executive team including Kristy Bradfield Petlin and broker Joyce Bradfield enjoyed a tour of the rooftop pool, penthouse, available units, first floor model, meeting area, and patio. Atmosphere was provided by a wonderful jazz trio and a delicious lunch by Gourmet Catering of San Antonio. This was a first visit for many of the Bradfield agents and all were impressed with the building and amenities. The Bradfield event kicked off the Summer Tour Series planned by La Cascada for local and regional real estate sales In a recent in-depth report on luxury high-rise living in San Antonio, La Cascada figured prominently in the coverage by KSAT-TV. Citing the strong interest in urban living, KSAT reporters interviewed several La Cascada residents as well as buyers considering other proposed projects in the area. "I was pleased to be a part of the interview process, especially in a report that showed viewers how strong the interest is in living on the riverwalk." said Mitch Meyer of La Cascada. And, of course, as people see the amazing values that can be had now, they're looking at buying sooner versus later when prices and values will increase." leaders.
